Meet Our Barbers

  • Zay

Hey, I’m Zay The Barber, the owner and lead barber at JD CUTS. Growing up in Houston TX, I always had a dream to be the best at whatever I did. From an early age, I realized there weren’t many barbershops around, and the ones that existed didn’t offer the kind of experience I thought people deserved. I wanted to change that.

I grew up watching people in my community struggle to find a place where they could not only get a great cut but also feel a sense of belonging. So, I made it my mission to create a barbershop where both the craft and the culture of the space were top-notch. I knew that if I could combine my ambition to be the best in my field with my desire to build a space that fostered connection, I could make a real difference. I wanted to create a place where people could not only get a quality haircut but also feel like they were part of something bigger. That's why I set out to create JD CUTS: a space that’s as much about connection as it is about style. I’ve spent years perfecting my skills, and every cut I give is crafted with precision and passion. For me, barbering isn’t just about the haircut—it’s about the experience.

My goal is simple: to make sure that when you leave our shop, you feel your absolute best .I’m here to help you find the look that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into your power. And while I take my craft seriously, I also believe in having fun with it . So don't be shy and come holla at your boy !! Im always taking new clients and welcome everyone to come check out JD CUTS to meet your new favorite barbers in town.

  • Kirk

As an immigrant from Dominica, my journey reflects perseverance and adaptability. After moving to the U.S. Virgin Islands at age 7 and later to Houston, Texas, I built a decade-long career as a Diesel mechanic. Despite my success, my passion for barbering remained strong. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I turned this passion into a full-time profession by launching a mobile barber service, offering personalized grooming experiences.

Since 2021, I’ve been working at JD Cuts barbershop, refining my craft and expanding my network. This dual approach allows me to serve Houston’s diverse community while growing both personally and professionally.

  • MIMI

Born in Houston, Texas, I discovered my gift for the arts growing up but had difficulties applying my skills to a specific career. Throughout my younger years, I loved styling my dad’s hair. During my junior year of high school, I asked if I could cut his hair. Without a doubt, he said yes and bought me barbering equipment. As soon as I started, I was very doubtful of myself, but soon enough, this idea became my career path.

Along my journey, some of my friends began to let me cut their hair. As I progressed, I eventually built a barber room in my garage and started my barber school experience. Over time, I improved my skills, moved around shops, gained more experience, and found myself at JD Cuts in Cypress, Texas.

For over five years, I’ve gained so much more confidence and experience. I received my barber license from the Texas State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. My mission is to provide quality men's grooming services for my community and share my craft with future Master Barbers.

  • Ingrid

Born in Esteli, Nicaragua, grew up in Houston, Tx I loved art growing up and admired the different ways you can make art, I always wanted to pursue something that had to do with the love I had for art.

When I graduated high school I enrolled in cosmetology school, after I graduated I wanted to find what I really loved doing under the beauty industry. I specialized in color for a few years. But, felt like there was maybe something I would have more interest in.

A stylist gifted me a pair of clippers she was no longer using. I took a barber class at the salon I worked at and fell in love with the art of men’s hair cutting. I wanted to learn more about the craft and started cutting friends and family in a small room that I made a studio. eventually I got hired at a gentlemen’s salon where I specialized in cuts, shaves and a pampering experience for men. 7 years in and I’m still loving my craft.

  • AC

Anthony Contreras but y'all know me as AC.

Nickname was inherited back in high school , but now I use it to let everyone know who is cold with the clippers! Born and raised Houston all my life , spent most of my time with a career in the oil field. I got tired of the lay offs in that industry and I always felt a passion for cutting hair . One of the things that I am most grateful for is the strong relationships that I have built with my clients over the years. I get to wake up every day and see people in my chair who have gone from being complete strangers looking for a haircut, to some great friends. Helping y’all look y’all’s best through an expand of events has been pretty awesome. Been with Jd cuts since 2020, and my ultimate goal here is to continue to bring the best service possible for the community . Doesn’t matter if you’re a long term client or new client. Everyone will receive the same attention, and you will leave Jdcuts feeling your best with a boost of confidence!

  • Johnny

    Johnny Blendz

Hey, I’m Johnny. I’ve been cutting hair for three years now, and I’m still in my mid-twenties, I’m mastering my craft everyday. When you come into my chair, you’ll notice the laid-back vibe right away. Soft music, clean space, and a relaxed environment. I take my profession very seriously.

I’m young but I’m always learning and improving. Whether it’s a fade, a trim, or a full style overhaul, I make sure to give every client my full attention. I’m not the type to rush through a cut. I take the time to understand what you want and make sure you leave feeling fresh, confident, and satisfied.

Even though my job can get pretty busy, I always make time to chat or share a laugh with my clients. It’s about building a connection, not just cutting hair. I’ve built a solid crew of regulars who trust me with their styles, and that’s something I’m proud of.

So, if you’re looking for someone who’ll take their time, care about your look, and stay consistent, I’m your guy. It’s not just about the cut; it’s about the experience. Come through and see for yourself.

  • Luis

    Luis "The Barber" Sandino

I was born in Managua, Nicaragua, and have been living in Houston, Texas, on West Road for over 20 years. I've been cutting hair since 2017. What started as a way to save money by cutting my own hair quickly turned into a passion. Before I knew it, I was cutting hair for many of my friends from school.

When COVID hit, I fully committed to barbering, handling 10+ clients a day at just 17-18 years old. in 2019, I started working with Zay at the original JD CUTS location, and that's when I embraced barbering as a full-time career. Zay inspired me with his drive and hunger for the craft, and I fell in love with it even more.

My mission is simple: to give every person in my chair the value they deserve. I know what it's like to spend your last $35-$40 on a haircut to look and feel good, so I prioritize every detail to ensure every hair is perfectly trimmed and styled. My slogan, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY, reflects my commitment to making sure every client leaves my chair feeling like a million dollars!

Confidence is key. A great haircut can turn around your day, your week, or even your month. That's why I'm committed to giving my clients exactly what they want-and then some by offering advice on how to enhance their style even further. At the end of the day, I'm not just a barber; l'm a hair specialist.

With over eight years of experience, I'm truly blessed to serve the same community that helped raise me. Being able to give back through my craft is an honor, and I'm proud to help my clients feel their absolute best. Come check me out—| promise, you won't be disappointed!

  • Irving

Hey, I’m Irving, and I’m all about creating a good time while keeping things professional. I’m a millennial barber who loves what I do, and I’m lucky enough to get to connect with new people every day. It’s not just about cutting hair for me; it’s about the vibe, the conversation, and the experience. Whether you're here for a quick trim or a total makeover, I want to make sure you leave feeling your best.

I’ve always believed in working at my own pace—quality over speed. I take my time with every cut to make sure it’s exactly what you want. No rushing, no pressure. I like to build relationships with my clients, hear their stories, and just enjoy the time we share in the chair. Life’s too short to rush through things, and when you’re here with me, I want you to feel at ease, like we’re just hanging out, catching up.

Being a millennial, I get what people are looking for in today’s fast-paced world. It’s all about finding that balance between getting things done and still enjoying the moment. I try to bring that energy into everything I do—whether it’s keeping things relaxed, offering a few laughs, or making sure you feel comfortable the second you walk in.

So, if you’re looking for a barber who’s all about creating a chill, fun experience while getting you the cut you want, I’m your person. Come through, let’s vibe, and I’ll take care of the rest.
